When was the last time you actually took a DAMN BREAK for yourself? Like actually, turned off your phone, put away your work, and disconnected from the world around you?
Resetting, restarting and re-energizing yourself is KEY to fulfillment and becoming the most successful version of yourself.
So many people think they have to be in constant grind mode. That they can never take a break because by doing so they’ll be behind in life or things will fall apart without them. If that’s true, isn’t it also true that by constantly doing the same thing over and over again without a break, you’ll end up feeling RESENTFUL and BURNOUT towards whatever is you’re doing?
The HARD TRUTH is, REST and RECOVERY are essential to getting through challenges in life and unfortunately many us feel like we never have the opportunity to do so.
Whether you’re a small business owner running and building a business, an entrepreneur, a mom, or even someone who just works in a 9-5; there are still ways that you can REST, RECOVER, RESTART, and RECLAIM your life. We went in-depth on the topic of REST with author and Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith on the PUSH Podcast, which you can listen to
HERE. We also shared 8 STEPS to help you REST in this season of life
here!
So how do you actually begin to REST when life feels like it’s constantly moving. It comes down to your
BOUNDARIES,
what you’re saying YES to, your
HABITS, and your
INTENTION.
If you’re a workaholic with a job that is demanding, you have 9-5 that requires a lot of you, you’re trying to run a business; you have to first find that balance of personal life and work life. Now, we don’t think there is such a thing called work-life balance, but there are BOUNDARIES that you can put into place to avoid feeling overwhelmed and consumed by work. There are boundaries that you can implement to help you ENJOY the things in life you that bring joy. And the first step is figuring out, what you’re priorities are and what can wait.
Which bring us to, what you’re COMMITTING too. Not all opportunities are good opportunities. Just because an opportunity is presented to you, doesn’t mean you have to take it on. Oftentimes we sign up for things, not really understanding that they will impact our life in a way that we didn’t really fully think through. You sign up for something, that maybe you didn’t necessarily have the time for and then weeks or months later you’re pissed off at yourself because you put yourself in this position. A lot of the times when we’re overwhelmed, we’re OVERLY committed. If you’re wanting these blessings, and you’re wanting to wanting to take these leaps of advancement, you have to have a really clear path. And so I think you’ve got to remove some of the distractions, remove some of the bullshit, remove some of the commitments that are in the way of you getting to where you’re trying to go.
A huge player in your REST is distraction and what habits you pour into. Sometimes it’s your ENVIRONMENT that drains your energy. This could be the people you’re hanging out with, a poor diet, watching tv 24/7, or consuming ALL the things on social media. And to be real, those distractions are contributing to the feeling of being drained, frustrated, lethargic, so you have to remove those unnecessary distractions in order to be better focused and more productive allowing you to be less overwhelmed.
Lastly, without INTENTION or a GOAL you’re constantly gonna overwhelm yourself with unnecessary projects. You’ll take on things that don’t necessarily help you get closer to your goal and you’ll feel lost because your hands are involved with too many things at once. Stay true to the path you’ve set foot on and when you feel like things are getting out of hand or you’re starting to lost, always remember you have the power to RESET and RESTART every day.
If this was helpful for you, please RELY in the comments and let us know how you REST and RESET to feel inspired, re-energized, and excited to get back to whatever it is you’re working on. And make sure to listen to the FULL EPISODE of the PUSH Podcast, out NOW!
